After 2 decades working in industry across Telecoms, Retail, Financial Services and Outsourcing Elaine moved to the not-for-profit sector and specifically anti-human trafficking where she now sits as Chief Operating Officer at the global charity, Hope for Justice. In a world where an estimated 50 million people are trapped in Modern Slavery, Elaine is passionate about the issue and how everyone across and businesses, governments, agencies and the general public are able to all play a part in helping eradicate this heinous crime.

David has over fifteen years’ experience working within the UK’s specialist military units and government environments, where he was the first cyber operative. During David’s time within government and whilst working alongside CISOs, he realised current approaches to cyber defence were cumbersome to set up, slow to adapt and expensive to run. David brought together a team of experts to solve some of the common struggles that CISO’s were experiencing including an erosion of trust caused by alert fatigue, unpredictable costs of ingesting logs and being too slow to adapt as getting hold of the right data was either painful to get prioritised by busy teams or that analytics take a long time to get into production.
He founded SenseOn in 2017 with a vision to make the Internet a safe place so businesses could prosper without fear. His sense of camaraderie, instilled by his military background, has created a collaborative working culture, nurtured by an extremely bright, dedicated and passionate team.

Tim has worked in IT for more than 25 years both in consulting and corporate IT with organisations including Logica, PA Consulting, Sepura and was previously Global Head of IT for the cyber division of BAE Systems (previously known as Detica). Tim graduated top of his year in Computer Science with AI at the University of Leeds, holds an MBA from the Open University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge University.
Ian Johnson is currently Associate Director for Cyber Security within the school of Computing & Creative Technology. He is responsible for leading around 20 cyber security academic staff. Prior to this he was AHOD Cyber Security & Business Computing, AHOD Information Science, and before that programme leader for the B.Sc. Forensic Computing & Security programme (now renamed Cyber security & Digital Forensics). He is Co-Director of our Gold recognised NCSC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education. He is a highly experienced teacher and academic with a history of programme and module design. He has designed and led modules for nearly thirty years in a number of programmes from the MSc Parallel Computer Systems (1989) through the MSc Systems Administration and Security, to the current undergraduate Forensic Computing & Security programme for which he led the redesign in 2016. His main interests are networks & network security, operating systems and embedded systems and he has previously led modules in these areas.
He has interests covering a wide gamut of cyber security issues, from embedded systems security, through network forensics to organised online crime and digital adversarial behaviours.
Felicity Oswald is the former Chief Operating Officer of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), where she led work to align strategy and resources in support of the UK’s cyber resilience. A career public servant with nearly 20 years’ experience across civil contingencies, crime and policing policy, and national security, she is passionate about building safe, secure, and just societies.
Felicity has also served as a charity trustee, including three years on the board of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT). She was awarded an OBE for services to British foreign policy and holds a Master’s degree in Criminology.
Robert is the Principal Security Strategist at Trend Micro, with a background in SOC architecture and threat intelligence. He works closely with organisations to interpret the threat landscape and turn insights into actionable decisions, whether in technology selection, security architecture, or operational processes. His focus is on helping teams build resilient structures that perform under real-world pressure, not just in theory.
Jake brings a unique edge to the digital security realm. As well as conducting research and analysis into the latest cybersecurity and AI threats, he also regularly comments on a range of cybersecurity and AI stories in the press for outlets such as BBC, ITV, Sky News and CNN. Jake previously worked in the police force for 14 years in the Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime Unit. He investigated 100s of crimes and spent much of his time in Crown Court producing digital evidence for an abundance of different offences ranging from fraud to murder. Leveraging this experience, he now guides businesses and employees in bolstering their cybersecurity by blending real-world crime-fighting insights, using artificial intelligence and social engineering techniques with advanced digital security strategies to combat evolving cyber threats.
